Grace Hinkle Portfolio

Both through school and work I have become more familiar and experienced at working with and creating new websites.

My Work

The Biomedical Research Institutes Websites

I work as a student Clerical Assistant for the IDeA Programs Office (IPO) within the Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) of BSU. Because of how big and different the branches of the BRI are, there are 3 main websites to organize and manage the different branches and their staff digitally. My work includes having to update and manage the main websites within wordpress and map any new additions. Recently the department rebranded so I was given the task of mapping and adjusting everything accordingly from titles to urls and making sure it all complied to BSU's website regulations.

Webpages

Biomedical Research Institute Webpage (BRI)
The BRI webpage is the main hub for the institutes heads, student resources and all of the different labs and facilities. Biomedical Research Institute
IDeA Programs Office Webpage (IPO)
Being the webpage for main office for the BRI, this is website where all the data organization, yearly reports, funding and news is mainly hosted. IDeA Programs Office
Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE)
The hub for two very specific research centers at BSU, Matrix Biology and Convergent Engineering and Biomolecular Science (CEBS). Still technically embedded under the BRI as a webpage (see url), but is widely considered in the Institute to be a main branch. Center of Biomedical Research Excellence

Shark Website

Through my major I have learned how to create new websites and get them presentable using html, css and javascript, and how to run them on a server. I am currently learning how to make websites cooperate with databases and allow information to be collected on the backend. This was the first website I ever made from scratch. There are many things I'd like to improve and add to it looking back, but this was a good starting point. I made this in the fall semester of my Sophomore year and I made sure to pay close attention to the functioning D3's and the CSS animations. Also, the shark website is fully adjustable to mobile view form.
